Russian National Machine-building Team: on the Path to 2018 FIFA World Cup
PK Transporting Systems surprised the audience with new tram model models with aluminum interior at Innoprom-2016, developed by Krasnoyarsk Machine-building Components. 21-meter long «Varyag» (71-922) and 27-meter long «Vityaz-M» (71-931М) were presented to world leading machine-building manufacturers and designers at the annual fair in Yekaterinburg.
These models do not just catch up with competitors’ trams on design and quality, but even exceed them in case of certain technical characteristics. Tram’s interior was developed by Krasnoyarsk Machine-building Components in collaboration with Krasnoyarsk Metallurgical Plant (KraMZ) with the metal provided by Krasnoyarsk Aluminum Plant (KrAZ) and support from Public Company RUSAL Plc. Tram’s design was implemented in cooperation with Spanish company ID&D under the guidance of Sergei Ivanov (PK Transporting Systems) and with the participation of Composites Plant (Nizhniy Novgorod) and KMC.
The presentation of trams was attended by world leading machine-building designers, representatives of Russian, Italian, French design institutions — Chief Designer and Head of Industrial Design at Giugiaro Design Nicola Guelfo, Director of Design at Italdesign Carsten Monnerjan, CEO of the Design and High Complexity Prototyping Center of the National University of Science and Technology MISiS Vladimir Pirozhkov and others.
It was stated that Russian tram building industry made a breakthrough and now stands in one line with successful and experienced world producers. During the presentations all remarks and suggestions were discussed, participants agreed on forward cooperation. Thus, Innoprom presentation became the beginning of future collaboration and mutual support.
Trams, which were already produced by PK Transporting Systems together with KMC, are now operated in Saint Petersburg, Rostov-on-Don, Krasnodar, Tver and also are currently tested in Russian capital city, Moscow. The experience gained in Saint Petersburg, where tram «Vityaz» runs the route №100 for a year now, showed increased passenger interest in innovative trams, passenger traffic enhanced up to 40%. Punctual elderly people sacrificing their time through missing older tram versions and waiting for the newer ones represent a great example of the attitude to the new urban transport technologies. This reflects the idea that everyone seeks comfortable trips in public transport.
KMC General Director Vitaly Dengaev says, «These particular pieces of transport are different from others, first of all, because of safety and improved comfort for passengers, which are still a number one priority, as well as elegance and grace, thanks to modern technologies and advanced materials application». Outstanding cabins from Nizhniy Novgorod, sophisticated interior made of Krasnoyarsk aluminum, components from Miass, solid car bodies from Tver and Tver’s assembling altogether form a prosperous model of fine team work under the auspices of PK Transporting Systems with a great coach Feliks Vinokur, founder of the company.
Although our country has lost all hopes concerning national football team play and all the disappointments it caused, we still can win the 2018 FIFA World Cup with the national machine-building team and its advanced play in modern trams production.
